Overflow: scroll (css)

Does anyone know if the overflow: scroll method will work for oversize images posted with IMG bbcode tags?

I know there are a couple of javascript mods that resize the images client side, but these rely on the browser and javascript being enabled.

I was hoping that when an image is posted over for example 700px wide, the overflow kicks in with scrollbars to see the rest of the image.
