Many Mods Installed, What If New vB Version?

I have been wondering for quite a while now.

I have a good amount of mods installed on my forum.

But what if vBulletin 3.5.5 comes out?

I'll have to redownload the new vBulletin and replace my existing files with it.

And I have ExtremePixels skins, they mostly release new skin version on new vBulletin releases.

Will I have to reinstall all modification files and reapply all template changes again?

Anyone who has experience in this could you explain me what the best, easiest way is to perform this?
