Alter event reminder interval selection

Hi

i'd like to add longer email event reminders in the calendar than the current 3 day maximum, ideally 7 and 14 days. Can anyone suggest a way of doing this please??, i modified calendar_reminder_choosetype template with new option values of "604800" and "1209600" but it didn't work
