REQ: Interface Help for Forum-Phobic Newbies
Users may select, upon registration and in user options, an Advanced/Standard/Newbie skill level for vBulletin.
Advanced (or Power User) mode would offer a set of special enhancements chosen by the admin (other hacks on vB.org etc.). Standard mode would offer a standard vBulletin experience with no enhancements (or some other standard defined by the admin). Newbie mode would be special. My vision is still somewhat vague, but the human role-models I have in mind are people who do not use the web for much other than checking email and stock prices, and who feel daunted every time they are faced with a set of fields and panels. How to improve their experience is the big question. Putting text labels near the various areas of the screen might be a good start, but obviously this could also just complicate and confuse their experience even more. So my request is a bit open-ended at this stage. A bonus to this mod would be other modes not related to a skill-level per se (perhaps offer more than one Advanced option, for example). |
