HR3rdGen if thats the case... would you mind making that for us? the others who are looking for something like that? meaning looking like myspace and making it with css?
Heres where you go on a tangiet.
You guys want it to look just like myspace, but myspace's layout is kinda crappy, but simple to duplicate. And there isn't anything special about it that you can't do with HTML. And if your users come along and change things, it won't look like myspace. The two things that would be hard are the buddy system, the blogs and the user comments.
I don't believe the messaging would need to be seprate from the PM system.
But you could take your memberinfo template and lay it out the same way.
Profile picture, a link to the gallery , link to add to buddy list, link to send message, then use profile fields to display all the other stuff, books, music, movies, hobbies, about, who'd you like to meet, status, everything I'm serious.
Then just start calling the additional profile fields in the template.
Danny is making his hack, which he claims is at 50%, but I don't see why you need a complete hack to replace your memberinfo when in realitity you simply want to SPICE it up.
An add-on for leaving comments in a profile, and an add-on for blogs would work wonders I think. If you already use something like vbgallery, which I do, then you have your resource for a members photo gallery, which you could make better than MYSPACE. Myspace allows you to upload 11 pictures. Big deal, how about letting your users upload more and create albums like on yahoo.
There really isn't anything amazing to my template mod. I will try my best to do a write up here, and maybe some of you cna play with it.
I didnt' get to detailed with the one that is on displayed becuase it's just a car site, not a singles site.
And some simple changes to your code would allow users to enter HTML into profile fields.
The big thing I am working on with that is the carrage return, you can't insert a return currently and start a new paragraph.
It seems to me a bunch of people want myspace without actually thinking about what it is they want.
Myspace isn't new, and its nothing different then a hundred other profile systems before it.
