What's the easiest way to recreate a thread?
Perhaps you've deleted a thread, but there's still a cached copy on google, or perhaps you want to export some threads (or comment type equivalent) from one system into vB. Well what's the easiest way to do this?
In my case I've decided to ditch PhotoPost (a gallery system, that integrates with vB), in favour of simply using vB's image attachment functionality in just a forum. Now, PhotoPost has a comment feature which is made to resemble basically a vB thread. Ideally I'd like to export their threads (or comments page) into a new vB thread, but retain all the users who posted, the correct times they were posted etc - basically recreate a thread (that has formed over a period of time in the past). So, really I just want to get some idea as to the easiest way to go about doing this. Presumabley I'll have to end up manually updated the db tables with all the information myself - but if this is this the case, are there any potential pitfalls in doing this, and anyone who confidently say which tables will need to be updated, as I'm sure there are some important db relaionships I don't want to end up breaking because I forget to update a particular table. Thanks for the help guys. |
