How would I integrate login and userlevels with main site?

Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before I did a search because I "assumed" I had seen something about that before but I couldnt find anything .

I need to integrate the login from VB into my clients main site as well as user levels. Im hoping the user levels is just a variable stored in a cookie, however if its not its all good. Is there a simple tutorial or a way I could do this? (Doesnt have to be simple)
