Header - resolution re-size issues

My image on my header is in a table setto 100%. It auto-sizes correctly as long as the resolution is at or above about 780 pixels (the size of the fixed tables on my header). The others are set as spacers to expand out to 1600 for higher resolution monitors.

The problem is when you minimize the screen or go to lower than 800x600 resolution. The header expands all the way to the max (1600px). and the Vbadvanced forum content stays at the same width, so the header extends way to the right with blank space underneath. The same thing happens on the vbulletin forums, so this isn't really specific to vbadvanced.

I have 5 columns in my header table. 3 that are fixed (a total of 780px). 2 that are spacers (410 pixels, images set at 100% to expand as needed).

The other issue similar to this is that IE browser adds a space to above the image - It views correctly with the FF browser. This is with the borders set at 0.
