Showing threads as expired after a set date
Hello,
I'm looking for a way to show individual threads as expired after a certain set date. The expiration date would be shown in the post up until it was expired, after which time the date would no longer show and instead "Expired" would display. This would be used in one forum, possibly two. I had an idea to add a few fields to the 'post' SQL table with the expiration date and to have the date there checked against the current date when the thread was displayed, and then either display the expiration date or the "Expired" label in the thread accordingly. However, this is a little out of my scope as I'm not the most proficient with SQL. The threads are created using a variant of Erwin's form hack. The date is selected using three dropdown menus (month, day, and year, respectively). The values for those menus are simply set to the month names, etc. and put directly into the template that the form posts to a thread. Any help with this would be appreciated, or if there's a hack that exists that does something similar to this, I would appreciate information on that as well. Thanks in advance. |
