Combine Multiple Searches

Is there a way to perform a search from one forum and see results from multiple forums? Can you do this if you don't have access to the database? Say from only a end user's perspective?

Reason: There are multiple forums out there all related to the same topic. You are looking for some information. So instead of going to each and every forum individually, you goto one of them and perform a search, check off a list of sites you want to search and it returns a combined result. Is this possible? Anyone want to work on it?
