Help with forum redirection

In order to better serve my members I have been trying to do something like the Full Releases forum here(with the subforums layout and old style layout). I was wondering if it would be possible to add a new thead button on the search results. For example go to the vbulletin.org forum index and click on Full Releases (Old Layout) and imagine a new thread on that search page.

Any ideas? I feel like this would be a VERY useful hack.
