The total users online can be reset to zero, but it will still count guests - to make it not count guests, you need to hack index.php

In index.php:

Find:

$totalonline=$numberregistered+$numberguest;

Change it to:

$totalonline=$numberregistered;

Then, run this query:

UPDATE template SET template='0 0' WHERE title='maxloggedin' AND templatesetid=-2;
