Custom Profile Fields - Help me

I know this is probably very easy but I am unsure how to do it. I want to make the maximum length of the custom profile fields be larger than 250 characters. ANy way to do this?

Secondly (this may be harder) Is there a way to have one of the input boxses appear as multiple lines that possible scrolls if the info that is put in gets long enough?
