When regestering on the system and I set up some other profile fields

I noticed that when testing the new profile fields I found out that if a person makes a mastake on the captcha image spam captcha tool you have to fill in all the information in the new fields as there a way to easly retain this information so the user does not have to enter this information again?

Let me explain a little more here

First how does a existing unmodifed system work the inforamtion about how the existing system does things so let me try to ask a couple dirrect questions first.

The captcha that is being used in the standard CMS version as shipped and divlered with out any modifiactions to it uses when set up a captcha to stop spamers and this script gets processed when the user press the submit button and the system goes and process this information.

In the registration process the captcha and the page that gets called when the user press the submit what is the name of the PHP script that gets called when the user press the submit button?

And what is the name of the PHP script or file that has the captcha on in the first place?

Please give me the name of where i should be looking for these files and can I make changes to these files through the templetes?

Or do I make the changes to the actual PHP files on the server and if i have to or do that how do I get the templete files to reflex that change or changes?

PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS IN DETAIL HERE!

Once I know the names and understand how I should make the change the proper way - I can make the changes and I also have been playing around with this PHP for a while now and for sure can make the changes if the templetes was not involed that is,
