How do add my old banner to 4.0 forum?

Hi,

I managed to find on my Mac, a banner which I had made for my old VB 3.8 forum which I quite liked.Currently I have just the standard VB layout with a few mods installed, but I would really like to have this banner put in place as there don't seem to be much in the way of colour on my forums(I'm thinking of having a custom forum skin made as nice relevant looking camera club related skin for 4.0 are just don't seem to exist anywhere.

I know that I need to use a FTP program to change settings somewhere, but I have no clue as to where to look as the upgrade from 3.8 to 4.0 was done for me by someone else.
