Staff members, I don't know where this most properly belongs, since this is an external application for assisting with vBulletin use rather than something that works with the vBulletin software directly.

Many of us have had the problem of how to sort through the private messages we've saved, and Ali Keshavarz has created his vBulletin PM Reader to make it easier. However, it only works in Windows, and not even in WINE, so I've taken up the task of creating a similar app that can work elsewhere.

So far, I've created a rather crude Python/TK version, VBPMViewer.py, and I've been working on a MacOS-X Cocoa version.

I intend for it to be open-source, but I'm concerned about some possible legal problems.

What would be the best way to refer to vBulletin's copyrights? "Copyright (C) xxxx-2009 by Jelsoft Enterprises"? Would it be a good idea to have a disclaimer that I have no official connection with Jelsoft and that this software is in no way endorsed by Jelsoft?

As to logo art and icon art, I'm thinking of staying clear of vBulletin's official logo, because using it might seem too much like an endorsement and because it is not as familar as vBulletin's name. However, I'm thinking of using the letters "vB" in some connection, like a page with big "vB" in it or a magnifying glass atop those letters. I hope that that will not be a big copyright problem.
