I'm not 100% Sure as i've not replaced my navbar completely, if you look at the live demo's you will see one of them has replaced it completely and reading through the mod thread you'll find others have too. Because this is a standalone product (You can use it in any HTML website) it's not coded to use VB hooks and i think that some items in the normal VB navbar do use them, not sure which though, but you need to ask yourself do you actually need them?? The bonus with the dropdown navbar is that you can use some many more links, you can link exterally as well as adding admin and mod only tags with conditionals to prevent others seeing them, so you'll be able to addadmin and mod links available to only those who have permission to see them.
