allow user to filter boards for the ;view new posts' function

I would like a way for my users to be able to select which boards they want to see new posts from when they click the 'new posts' function, and not have to see new posts from every board. Also, I already use the forum filter available at vb.org, but that blocks those boards completely from view - i am looking for a way just to block then from the 'view new posts' view, but not the board itself.
