How do I add navigation to bottom of showthread?

Okay, here's what I want to do. I had this on my old vBulletin, and now that I've updated, my users want it back.

The navigation links in the navbar area:

vBulletin.org Forum / Community Discussions / General vBulletin Discussions

I would like to add those to the bottom of the showthread template. I would like it to appear between the "Previous Thread / Next Thread" links and Quick Reply.

So what I did was take the code for the links from the navbar template, put it into a new template, then tried adding $newtemplate to the showthread template. This didn't work. Nothing shows up. At vbulletin.com, they told me that not every template can have other templates added to them. Obviously, this is one of those cases.

So, how do I add these links to the bottom of the showthread template? There must be a way! Thanks in advance.
