2 Questions for 3.6.5

Setting up a new board system this week and cant remember two things that I did on my original board.

1. I like to have the "remember Me" checked and i have it set to check as default on the login info at the top right of page.....where do i find the area I need to edit to have it checked when someone logs in vis the error page (say for instance if they try to post without being logged in, they are taken to a page to login)

2. How do I add custom fields to the profile that members can fill out during the registration process?
