Why do I always have these problems!!!

I ran phpmyadmin.....everythng fine... I was in as root
I went to change password.....typed in a new password/confirmed. logged out

Now when I try to login it won't let me...I can get in with another user name but not as root any more....

If I run the mysqladministrator on the machine I can get in as root but not remotely with phpmyadmin.

What have I done now?

I have used another remote prog Flashmyadmin.....same thing there except it gives me an error saying the protocol is not accepted.

any help is appreciated

Hmm have you turned on Remote access for the root user?
