I'm looking for a way to disable users from applying to join one of these usergroups. If you turn off public usergroups, it removes the usergroup from the list of public usergroups in the hack that was made.

So is it possible for someone to create a hack or something that would allow for me to disable applying, but keep it a public / joinable usergroup? Like... disable per usergroup.

What point would there be in making it public but not joinable?

Allow only a certain number of people within the usergroup, but still have it show on the page. If you make it a regular usergroup, it does not show on the public usergroup page. That page only shows public usergroups, but I don't want to be spammed with applications.

So make it so the group leader(s) can add users? Like that? Instead of the apply to join.

Not exactly. I just want to be able to allow or not allow applications. An option to disable the section in Group Memberships where they can apply.
