Hey guys, I'm having this problem with Apache on my localhost. I have the following installed on my Windows XP Pro.
Apache 1.3.33 PHP 4.3.10 MySql 4.1.9 et phpMyAdmin 2.6.1. All of a sudden now I'm unable to connect to my localhost. I used to just have to start up Apache and MySQL. Then type http://127.0.0.1 in my browser and I would connect to my localhost. But now it just sites there and says. 'Waiting for 127.0.0.1'. I noticed that if I turn off Apache and type 127.0.0.1 in my browser, it would give me a 404 immediately. But when it's turned on it will just sit and hang. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've also download a program called PHPTriad that installs Apace, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin on your box and the same thing happens when I use that. I figured it could be due to a trojan or spy-ware, so I scanned my computer and everything is normal. I just can't seem to pinpoint why my localhost would hang like this all of a sudden. Any help or ideas to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ken |

Any Windows updates recent? Installed IIS maybe?
Changed the drive you have your webroot directory to NTFS? Changed directory permissions? Always using the latest Apache, PHP 4.1 & MySQL 4.1 on my winxp localhost without problems. Inever use the packed products. |

Well after a long night of uninstalling unneeded programs threw the add & remove section. I got my localhost working again. Seems as there was a program of some sort that must have recently downloaded interfering. Not sure how to explain what happen, but its working now.
