Yeah - It's very similar to vB in alot of ways. You can tell whoever wrote it like the way vB is doing things. I just set up an installation of MyBB for a client last week and it was very easy to work with - Might use it myself on one of my forums that is currently running phpBB (And as a note has been hacked twice since I opened it a couple months ago.)

Invision is not free though

Unless you get hold of an older version, or illegal one But that's not right...

I still reckon XMB is your best bet
