Notice: People Asking for Styles
Hey,
I had received an irregular IM earlier this afternoon from a user FooD StamP ClaN. He contacted me complaining about ?troubles? with his computer and license and saying he was a licensed vB user. He then proceeded to ask if I could download some styles for him from the board in exchange for some graphics or something similar. After getting rid of him by refusing to do it I was checking the vb.org board and found that he had been doing this for a couple different things. (Thread at vbulletin.org) I am just posting this warning for everyone and asking Saint Dog, or whoever for that matter, if we can make a point of restricting access to contact information for unregistered or unlicensed members? Thanks, |

Firstly, and I'm glad you picked that up, it was just a coverup to get access to files this person couldn't without being a licensed user.
That would be very helpful, I agree. |

While we can disallow regular members from using PM's and we can hide the e-mail buttons as well, some members actually are licensed and do need help; I know this is not the case all the time, but it does appear more often than none.
It is best that if you do not wish to receive PM's or E-Mails that you turn such options off. For those placing AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo information in their profiles, that too is best left out if you are concerned about non-licensed members contacting you. Personally, if anyone contacts you via AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, or PM/E-Mail here at vBT asking for hacks, template modifications, license information, or anything relating to such, I would hope that you use the ignore button quickly . Any members caught doing so will be placed instantly on global ignore, i.e. tachy goes conventry . |

I think the vB3 pirates are down from the vB2 ones. More measures taken out.
