vBulletin House of Commons - IRC Chat Event !
Announcement !
> What is this event ? Everybody who is interested in having a real-time on-line chat about vBulletin and specificly about the upcomming version (3), is hereby invited to participate. > Who will be there ? Hopefully several official vBulletin team members and developers. Users who have experience with running vBulletin (version 3) on their web site for some time now and known template and source code hackers and hopefully some other familiar faces. And you? [update] At the moment several users from the vBulletin staff have informed me that they will do their best to join the chat! I have also received a few omments from users from the hacking community and users who already run version 3 of vBulletin. If you want to join, or chat with them, then we will see you soon! > What will be discussed ? In general the vBulletin software, and specificly version 3. Everybody is allowed to share their thoughts and ideas about the upcomming version. But ofcourse, anything vBulletin related is welcome and open for discussion. The great thing is, you can ask questions directly! > When is this event ? We have set the date for FRIDAY (April 11th 2003). We will log everything, so if you miss it, you can read afterwards (but ofcourse, that isn't as cool) You are welcome the whole 24 hours of the day, but we hope most will join around 19:00 GMT +1 > Where is this event ? The IRC vBulletin Chat will be held in the official vBulletin.org IRC channel #vBorg on the DevCore Network. You can come there with any IRC chat client, or by the java chat feature through the vBulletin.org web site. If you want to come with your own IRC client, point it to: /server irc.devcore.co.uk 6667 and once connected, /join #vBorg (For Windows users we advice mIRC (download) and for *nix users we advice irssi). > Anything special ? It is just a few more days and we hopefully then we will have a fun event where we can discuss vBulletin and especially version 3.
Everybody can ask everybody questions, and that what we can share, we will. Maybe you learn some new details, or maybe you can awnser a few questions. (nda nda nda) Maybe some staff members or even some developers show up and you can ask them questions in real-time! Who knows what they might awnser, or spoil us with!! I have invited the staff a week ago and some have replied that they will try their best to be there upcomming friday, so who knows! I also invited most of the users from the private beta team to come and maybe awnser a few questions or share their version3-experiences with us. We have set the event on FRIDAY, the 11th of April, in the evening at around 19:00 GMT+1 - but we will be happy to see you join at any time, and feel free to just idle in the channel. Once it gets more busy, the chats will get more enjoyable. A day later I will gather the log files and compile a nice page where everybody can read back what they might have missed. (Leaving out the boring parts ofcourse) - So nobody is missing out on anything. But, there isn't much to show, if nobody joins, so if you have any interest in a fun chat, discuss vBulletin or just want to meet the staff behind this great product, see you online Friday! The first post in this topic has been updated (and the vBulletin.nl website too) with links to mIRC and the java chat, so it will be easy to find out how and where to join. If you still have any questions, feel free to ask. Oh, and once you have connected to the chat, and you are in the channel, you will see some difference between the users there. Users with the @ sign in front of their name: These are the channel operators. They manage the channel and the users in the channel. These users can be robots, vbulletin staff members, or just regular users (like me) picked out to help out. We can not give you channel operator status, so don't ask for it. And if a user is misbehaving, or you need help, you can contact a channel operator to help you out. Users with the + sign in front of their name: These are users who are 'voiced', this is more a sign of respect and friendship, rather then serving its original purpose for when the channel is 'muted'. We will give out voice to certain users, staff members or otherwise. Users with no signs in front of their name: Visiters of the channel. Users who misbehave: If we find a user spamming their site, swearing in the channel or ranting/flaming others - the channel operators might take action in the form of a kick from the channel or even a ban from the channel. The same rules apply as seen on most forums apply to the chat too. So please behave  Questions? Ask!

Due to recent development, we quickly moved to friday, sorry for the confusion. vBulletin.org still needs to upgrade the announcement.
For everybody that misses it on friday, we will also have the chat open on saturday, but no vB staff members will be there, except scott maybe.

!! The Chat Event Has Ended !!
Sorry everybody who missed it, we had a great time, some great chats, and we gained some cool new details about vBulletin, the people behind vBulletin and the upcomming vBulletin version 3. Everybody had their chance to ask their questions, share their experience with vBulletin (and version 3) and post their complaints. We have logged everything, and will compile a nice log with links and extra's on the vBulletin.nl website in the upcomming 48 hours! So check it out if you missed it, or keep it as a nice reference point. Hint: New unseen before vBulletin version 3 admin control panel screenshot(s) and even some example php code and other details. Present: vBulletin.com Staff : Developers > Kier, Scott, Freddie / Team Members > Chen, TubeDogg, Cary vBulletin.org Staff : Administrators > Xenon / Moderators > Mist Special thanks to vBulletin.org and Jon & Derek from DevCore for hosting the ircd and java chat applet which helped everybody to join! And ofcourse thanks everybody who participated. For those who thought this event was for Saturday, sorry! Due to recent events we had to decide to move to Friday. If this caused you to miss the chat event, we do have it logged, but more importantly: You can participate at any time! The IRC Chat server is up 24 hours of the day, and there is always someone in the irc channel. Regular vBulletin staff members like Scott and Chen are also present (though idle at times) - so it might be worth a peek! Anyway, thank you all, and it was a pleassure to realize my idea and actually see people showing up! Floris.
