Probably a solution for the "dubious coder" problem
Hi all
I´ve read the thread below about the dubious coder hate, who did nothing for the the money, his customer paid. This is just a suggestion how this problem may be avoided in the future. There are 2 possible solutions. 1.) vbulletin.org may set up a "proved by vbulletin.org" system. Honest coders may send their references to vbulletin.org, and the get an extra titel below their nickname "Proved coder" , so possible customers can see at a glance, that this coder is honest 2.) A rating system like eBay may be implemented, where possible customers can see what other customers think about the coder. yours Markus |

1) references can be faked
2) I think someone else just started a thread about this too |

So what we need is a honest coder to program the "rating hack"
And if another thread about this should exist, please close my thread or merge the threads. yours Markus |

I think the title ideal is good, I deserve one since I do so many requests lol But for real, the references can be fake, but I have had some satisfied clients actually post in their request when I got finished stating stuff like: Rick Sample does an excellent job, highly recommened, etc! So I mean those can't be fake! Just a thought

You can´t be sure, that a reference isn´t faked. If the users has more then 1 account, he may rates himself.
The only thing you can do is the same thing eBay does. To send a letter by post to every member who wants to use the rating system. There will always remain an element of uncertainty. yours Markus |

always remember, that the service request forum is just a platform to find someone.
It's not the main aspect of vb.org to bring together a professional coder with a customer. that's why we won't change much here, as the main aspect is still free hacking community. |

hello stefan
yes you are right. this is just to place where customers can meet coders. but since there is a special area where customers can pay for hacks, there should be a suitable solution to protect users here from black sheeps yours Markus |

Regarding your post:
1) We do not want to be an "accreditation" site. You can imagine the issues to do with this. 2) We are a volunteer hacking site. The Paid Requests forum is there for people's convenience. I have some ideas though and may look into it. |

I think this site should also look for the member's protection... I mean what can be done if members are ripped off by a specific individual...?
but also I think is important to think that this will bring alot of issues as erwin said... maybe just activating the reputation system will help, (maybe not)... just a thought.. anyways, thanks for taking this issue in mind |

I don't see how the rep system would help - you will get points for all sorts of odd things, very few will be related to how honest you are ....
