Maybe y'all can help me find the software I am seeking
I am looking for a programmer's text editor with some very specific criteria. Thus far, I haven't had any luck.
The must-have feature list: 1. It must be free. 2. It must run under Linux 3. It must have multiple file search and replace (like in homesite) - I don't want it like emacs which allows you to use grep in a command line. I want to be able to click the found text and have the editor open the file right at that line of text. Eclipse seems to have something close, but it only searches in projects. I need to be able to point to specific directories. 4. It must be able to have multiple files open at once - tabbed interface preferable. The would-be-nice feature list: 1. It would be nice if it had syntax highlighting for php, java, C and C++ 2. It would be nice if it had code folding 3. It would be nice if it had integrated ftp gedit in gnome is almost the perfect editor for me except it doesn't have the multiple file find and replace. When I'm writing a new mod, that is the feature I use most of all. |

I can't get Eclipse to look anywhere but in my workspace. I need to be able to browse to other folders.
