The "RPG Battle Systems" again..
I know a million people post threads asking for these. This one's aim is.. a little different.
Currently I'm using Revan's RPG Integration Mod, but it has got me interested in others that may exist. I'll probably keep using Revan's as he upgrades, but the question remains.. Are there any that are animated? How about RCS? Is that dead? I've heard lots of things about it but can't seem to find it anywhere on the web. Any information about Battle Systems for vB3 would be appreciated. Thankies! ^_^ |

Zero Tolerance's RPG Inferno, costs $30.00 (?15.00 ) and its very good, you can have animated gifs, spells can be animated, and upgrades are constant, its one hell of a script. Definately worth the money |

Everyone keeps saying ZT's has so many more features than Revan's, and to join his forum to try it out.. but.. really, I don't notice much difference. :/

Are you mad? lol
Seriously, ZT's has hundreds of more features, and he's always updating as well, since you haevnt purchased it, you dont have access to the vbulletin rpg inferno sectionon his site, where latest updates and future feature lists are posted |

Here's what I've noticed about the ZT RPG Battle Mod.
It has a card game. Interesting, I could go for that, but I can live without it. Revan's doesn't. It has summons. Revan's doesn't have it, but you can make a shop and "simulate" summons, which is the same effect, really. It seems to have a different cash system than uShop & uCash. I prefer uShop, which Revan's uses. It has a job system that pays. Revan's "class" system (which is a job system) doesn't pay, but that's okay. You can own an item and not have to equip it. I can live without that. It seems to have bots. I want this! Revan's mod has this on the way, though. So that's good. The thing I noticed about ZT's that I didn't like was how it operated. It was similar, but navigation was... clunkier. The templates weren't NEARLY as clean (then again, it could have just been the style of the forum, and I'm not a fan of non-fixed widths). Also, you cannot see your character when battling. Not a big deal, since in Revan's it shows your character but they're not animated or funtional.. just a preference. It is costly. Note that I'm not cheap, and some mods I'm willing to pay for, but with the mod like Revan's existing, I can't justify spending 30 to 60 dollars for a license for ZT's. I know ZT's has a cool feature on the way called "RPG World." When this is done, I might be jumpin' trains.. but who knows? That's a long time from now. No one seems to want to list exact advantages of Inferno over RPG Integration System because there are not that many. People say "You just have to try it out . . . try it . . . try that." Well I browsed all of the battle system posts this weekend, and I browsed folks' websites with the system and registered, including the Inferno forum, and I "tried it." I did not see a 30 to 60 dollar difference at this point in time. :/ Regardless, you can't ask me "If I'm mad," I should really be asking you the same question at this point. Though ZT's project started sooner than Revan's, they're pretty much at similar points, and Revan's appears to be a lot cleaner. I mean no disrespect to ZT's, because I know that's a HELL of a lot of hard work and there is more on the way, but.. at this point in time, with Revan's available, I cannot justify the cost. We'll see what both coders bring us in the future; they are both very talented and I look forward to seeing the battle systems battle it out. :P |

It is after all a battle system mod, not a game, Im offering :P Besides, IMO if it is going to look at all good, it has to be more than SNES 2D graphics, which is not possible for an RPG World unless it is large enough to qualify as a game. Quote:
Even v3 of RPG IH is far too query intensive for my tastes Not to badmouth ZT's work, but I have looked at the files on occasions and I have found several instances of so-called "trigger-happy querying", meaning rather make a new query than implement it in the previous one. Plus, not to mention that the v2 of the hack was a "learn-as-you-go" experience for me. I had little prior PHP experience, but I forced myself to learn because I wanted the RPG for vB3. It is also much easier to update a hack when you've got the foundation of it just the way you want it Quote:
Not to mention the upcoming features Im reluctant to mention (if that even made sense ), I promise that no matter what features are added, improvements done, RPG Integration Hack will always be a full version, and always be free |

Revan added Monster AI, and it rocks. :P I'd just like to point out the success this mod has had with keeping my boards active. I opened it up to the users on the 17th, and watch the boom.
