Why couldn't you log into your adminCP and do a backup from there? Maybe I missed something.

Geez, that is below the belt. I take it he has no upload ability either, so he couldn't just upload fresh files either..... man sounds kinda screwed

I wonder if there is a way around this because Thug is a minor? I am not sure minors can be held to contracts.

But, this points out something very important. If you do enter into a hosting contract of any kind, make sure you read the fine print and know what's you're getting into.

gotta love ignorent jealous people these days. They will do anything to piss people off on the internet especially when it deals with buisness. But eventually payback will be a b**** for him. Might take days, weeks, years, or decades but eventually someone will get him back and he wont know what hit him.

I think this host can be held responsible:
- Thug provided him with a valid vB source and asked to install
- Thug asked him to make some specific modifications
- Thug never ordered him to remove the backup possibility.

Like i see it, this host have made deliberate unauthorized changes to vB source.

We are not talking about bulletin software provided and owned by the host here. The software is owned by thug, and without explicit agreement this host can not make any changes to it, or change the functionality.

This woll not help much, but if brought to court, you could sue him for "breaking" something you own.

It happends things do go down but eventually you get back to life and recreate something better then what you have. I had websites that got deleted, and computer crashes. Lost so many files web files I needed that took months to create but I didnt really caredI continued on what I started and each time I got taken down I got back up and made it better. So thats what you should do if you cant get the files back.
