Default Service Request - Please Help

Hi,

I registered on this board but cannot post in the service request section. I would like to find a web designer who is highly proficient at vBulletin and payment processing for a website project. Can someone help me?

Please (email address removed) if you can help me with my web project or tell me how to put this request in the right section - thanks so much for your time in advance.

moneydr

moneydr,

You are currently showing up as unlicensed. To be able to download hacks and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (vB-germany users click here) and enter your email address, to show us that you are licensed.

You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive. The update of your account may take up to one hour.

Thank you.

Right, I understand that I'm not licensed - because I'm not - I haven't purchased the software yet because I'm trying to find a web designer who is proficient in vBulletin and payment processing systems so I can make sure I can accomplish what I want with the site - I certainly don't mind paying for the vBulletin IF I can find someone to create the site for me - if not it doesn't make sense to pay vBulletin for a license to ask someone if they can create the site for me then find out they can't.

Please advise

Hi

This is an official support site for licensed vBulletin owners, and the Service Request forums are for licensed vBulletin owners, so you need to purchase a license first before posting in it.

Or get someone who has a license and ask them to allow you to view the forum

Did you just encourage an unlicensed person to get around the requirement to actually buy the code, Gary?

No; for example, if you are a moderator or administrator on a forum but you are not the license owner, is it not allowed that the administrator who owns the license can add the email address of the other administrator so that they can have priority support? Is that not what that form is for?

I am just letting this user know that it is possible to do this, IF he is 'entrusted to work on your vBulletin license' as exactly quoted by that page.

Yeah, hmm, gonna have to side with Gary here. If the guy is looking for a designer then why could he not post in the Service Request forum? I thought the reason behind the license status was so that no one could view the code posted on the board or use the hacks? He was probably directed here from vb.com for this very reason.

He has a perfectly legimate reason for needing access to the srevice request forum and all you guys are doing is turning him off on buying the software.

Also, why remove his email address from the post when it is perfectly within site rules to do so? Arent you still allowed to put your email address in your profile? Whats the difference between that and posting it a forum?

Our problem is that we can't judge, which members are truly going to buy a license and which ones already use a pirated version of vBulletin.

Say an unlicensed user posts in the service request forum asking for 2 modifications to be installed.
If he *is* already unlicensed, there's a big change that he won't pay the coder that followed up on his service request either.

amykhar removed the email from the first post, because with our current stance on this, we don't allow service requests from unlicensed users and aren't here to offer a marketplace for them either.

Additionally, how much would you guys expect to pay for a skin? As I understand that moneydr is looking for a custom skin, I would expect the whole thing to be a project of a few hundred dollars worth, possibly over 1000. If a person is about to spend that much money on his/her site, I'm sure he/she can just as well take the plunge and buy a 85$ vBulletin leased license.
