I'm looking for some ideas on how to increase traffic/membership to my site

I finished the easy part of my site, the design & modification of vb3 ... now comes the hard part. Site promotion.
I have done all the obvious things, SE submission, also submitted to board reader, forumzilla, and a few various other directories. I even have a few link exchanges on a few sites that are top ranked in in some key words that are relevent to my site.
Anyway, i am looking for some ideas/tips I may have missed to drive more traffic to my site to increase membership. I see a lot of the member sites here with 1000's of members, i'm just wondering what some of the things they did were to drive up membership, and how long it took to see results.

Well the main thing that atracts new members is the topic and its uniqueness ... if there are 5 other forums out there with lots of members that have the same topic as yours its gonna be a tough battle, you have to offer them something that the others dont.

Have a realy good look at the hack forume here and think carefully about what you install ..... put yourself in the shoes of a budding new member and say to yourself, i like this feature of this site but will i register just to use it.

There are also some great promotional hacks here like my vB-O-GRAM that is based on the e-greetings idea, I will also be releasing another hacks in the near future called "Links To Us".

I'm not criticising you here but I have a question for you. Why would I, your average Joe Bloggs want to come to your site? What can you offer me? Do you have unique content or features?
