Importing Users

I've imported a custom database of users into a forum which uses the default style unmodified. Everything is good except one thing - the postbit is not showing user information. When I view a message posted by a registered user they show as guests with no posts.

However everything else seems to work: They can login and post, update their profiles, and even the members list shows them with links to their posts. It's just that the posts themselves don't link back to the users.

When I imported the users I inserted them into three fields: user, userfield and usernote. In phpMyAdmin, all the info in the database looks fine and I can't see any differences between the imported users and users created before the import (which all work fine).

I've also looked at the post table in phpMyAdmin and the messages all look good, with usernames and ids all recorded correctly (as far as I can see).

Did I miss something when I imported the users?
Has anyone got any idea where I could look to find what I've missed?
This is driving me nuts. Thanks for any help.

EDIT: In a user's public profile their "Total Posts" count is zero, but when I click "Find all posts by..." l do find all their posts.
Also, I tried updating counters etc.

EDIT: Found it. I need to populate the usertextfield table. Fixed now I think.
