Default Where did the fix for the Articles hack go???
Can anyone please shed some light as to why the fix someone posted for the Vb Articles hack is now gone? It would appear from visiting John's website that we have a bit of a security/permissions problem with the Article hack. (someone has clearly defaced John's examples!)

Some other member here posted a fix for the article.php file. I replied, then got an e-mail notification that someone else replied, now the whole thread is either gone or has been moved to a private forum? What gives??

Not trying to be a troublemaker, I just want to know what is going on here?

Apparently I am not allowed to post fixes, so the powers deleted it.

Not before I grabbed a copy of your fix... Did they even explain why or was it just removed period?

For some reason, all the support threads on John's site are gone and you cannot make any new ones. Perhaps this is his way of saying the hack is no longer supported by him or anyone else...??

Sure you are. Just post bug fixes in the support thread for the hack - not as a new hack.

Ok, so the moderators would rather:

1) Have 5+ pages of threads of people asking the same thing, because a 30 page thread is a bit much to go through

and

2) Have people continuing to use a hack which puts an enourmous flaw (several in fact) into vBulletin.

You let people post re-hacks of original hacks... but not fixes. Should I be seeing a logical decision?

Ok, now Assassingod has posted your fix
in the original thread, so it appears the only problem anyone had with your fix was where you posted, like amykhar said.

It's all good now.

I would hope that the security notice is posted in the original infopanel for the hack, so that people realize that there is a problem with it.

LOL... ok, I'll shutup now. Everthings good- The security fix has been added to the infopanel on the first page of the original hack.

Nice work by Paul M to release this fix.

Perhaps I should have called it Articles v2 then.

I didn't post it in the original thread because I didn't want it to get lost in the 53+ pages after a day or two. Since the first post has now been edited to mention it then hopefully it will be ok.

Bug fixes should go in the original hack thread

Unless you cannot get the author to add your fix to the first post (If they haven't created a fix themselves already!) PM me and I will add it to the first post of that hack and send an update.
