Spell Checker
I would love to see a spell checker for current version of vB.

Both of these almost work and are not fully compatible with 3.03. You can follow the instructions exactly and still not succeed. They both appear to work until it comes time for the spell checked text to move to the post block. That's where the functionality ends as the spell checked text never transfers over. To date, there is no known fix for this and I have looked across multiple forums for it.

Both of them are not working 100%, with no answers or solutions to any of their unique problems.
We need a third spell check hack, I think. Three years ago, vBulletin came with one (and it worked lovely), so why is it hard for someone to just make a new spell check based on that blueprint and design? I'd be willing to pay if that's what it takes. |

There are plenty of sites that offer remote spell checking, but most now charge for said service, this is why it was removed from vB. |

I checked spellchecker.net and their fees are simply outrageous. $150 a year and ONLY a 10k session limit? My board is pretty active, with people asking for this thing every week, and a measily 10k cap for a year just won't work. They're the best out there, though. It's a shame that a very basic message board service like EZBoard is able to have this important feature and present it to their users, yet the best forum on the 'net is either incapable or unwilling to have this critical feature included for their loyal customers at this time. |

I've tried iespell and tested it by intentionally creating typos. Sometimes, it doesn't pick on all of them or *any* of them.

It is easy to have a self hosted spell as the majority of servers out there have pspell installed and useable. It would not be hard for Jelsoft to tailor something to operate with pspell correctly. I know at least one of the available hacks "Pungo Spell" attempts to use pspell and succeeds as far as that is concerned. What it does not do is transfer the information to the post field if using WYSIWYG.
