A website im on, (full or brainy ladys) had a member sign up, with advertising in the signature, and made what seems to be normal posts. However theres a sinister side to this and one of the ladys on the site found out what it is, so i thought i would link you all to the website of the person so you can see what they are doing. They signed up under their name of PRbot.com
I didnt read up on it or look into it, but i think its something to do with them getting ranks in google everytime someone clicks their links in the signature, or because they have the links there.
One of the post goes on to say about how you can get away with it because members think you are a normal member.
I just thought id give a heads up warning incase it comes to your site.
Well i do know about those secret spammers, just useing your memberlist page to get there link spidered. The sign up with a name that will put them to the top of the memberlist, like #!aaaa, and then there sites get indexed. I read that at the admin zone awhile back.
I've noticed people posting their signature actually inside their posts also. This is a sneaky trick to try and get better SEO so I just remove that part from their post on my forum and give them a warning.
Well the women on the forum im on dont take much.... umm..... rubbish So they banned him straight away and removed the signature etc.
Just as well my member list isn't public and guests can't view homepage links or signatures I've also got the hack which prevents you from posting URLs in threads or PMs until you have a certain number of posts.
