Did an upgrade now have a problem with my hacks... :(
:ermm: I am not sure where to put this as I couldn't find a 'support' type forum over here. Over at vb.com I was instructed to come here.
I did the recent upgrade from 3.0.0 to 3.0.3 last night. I was having issues with it and couldn't get all my hacks back on it. Then I was getting an error where it wouldn't let me (the admin) or any of my members on to look at threads. That error was fixed when I removed the information in the includes/functions_showthread.php that pertained to the v3arcade. Once that was removed I can view and post in threads. HOWEVER, I still cannot access the admincp. Everytime I try to log on it keeps taking me back to the login screen. At vb.com they gave me a file to reset the cookies on my server (or something like that) it was the resetcookies.php file. I have also reset the cookies on my computer, cleared the temp internet files, and restarted my computer. I am at a loss to what I need to do next. I can't finish modifying my hacks because it won't let me in the admincp. :tired: |

Hi Ashley,
Your problem is in your file edits.... What I'll do when I upgrade is first make all my file edits that I had before... I use a program called "Beyond Compare" for this. Makes it really easy to do. At any rate.... your database changes will still be there so don't mess with those.... Look back at your instructions for each hack and do the file edits required...... Remember, just the file edits..... |

I read further and it kinda sounds like you've already been doing file edits? I'm not sure but you might have to edit the templates as well. I'm sure somewhere in here is the answer or someone will respond.... I'm new to VB... You might wanna post the errors you're getting also....

Yes I was trying to redo the file edits and did most that I could... but then I couldn't access my admincp anymore. I was going to do the reinstall thing that you are suppose to do after an upgrade for vbadvanced homepage. Also I was going to check my templates, but I can't do that! *wahhhh*
I am not getting any errors anymore since I removed that bit of code from the functions_showthread.php... it had to do with cookies and the header already being sent out. Not sure why... VB.com told me to come here or just start with a fresh vb... umm I can't do that, it's just not an option! LOL I've worked way to hard on it... This is also not my first upgrade, I've done it SEVERAL times now, so I thought I was getting to be a pro, I guess not! |

Actually, what they mean by starting with a fresh vb is the files......Not the database.. If you're getting errors or whatever when trying to get into the control panel then you'd only need to upload all the files you've edited that pertain to that or just upload all the files in the /forums/admincp directory..... Then from there try your file edits again..... Back them up each time so you can replace them easily if you still get errors.....

Well what I did was upload all the admin files again, since they were the only ones giving me grief. Then I re-did the hacks... (great minds think alike, eh?) Now it is working fine! (so far, fingers crossed, knock on wood!)
Thanks for your help! |
