We use the VB_CMPS for our portal. I wrote all the skins, and my users are constantly chasing me for more. Any comments on the default skin would be welcome.

Well first of all let me congratulate you of being one of the few users I've seen here to actually change their vB portal systems. You've added a few blocks and instantly that makes me think you've actually put some effort into thinking your site through. If you want to take that one step further I'd try re-arranging the content blocks a litle more and perhaps straying from the 3-column layout as you have an almighty lot of vertial-scroll as it is. I'd also move the login-box below the navigation box as it took me a few seconds to find the link to the boards, and that's only because I know these portals well

Your forums are pretty active, I can't really pinpoint any design flaws other than the on/off icons don't stand out from the dark grey background that they are on. And I have to say I hate those posticons such as http://www.enworld.org/forums/images...neral/help.gif .

Other than that good job and best of luck with the expansion of your site

Thanks. Yeah, the post icons need work but I have other coding headaches at the moment.

The news items on our main page are assembled by hand. I'm trying to find a way to change this, with no luck so far.

very nice site but personally for me it takes a very long time to load and im using cable but other than that the site is great

Nice layout and design, but VERY slow on DSL.

I love the blue globes.

If I were a user, I would really miss the who's online box on the main page. Is that just off for unregistered users?

It takes a very long time to load. The site look interesting, seems like alot is thrown at the user (noting the massive vertical scroll). The portal itself looks different from other and as Dean said above that is a key, and your site so far looks great!
