I think you misinterpreted what I said, or at least what I meant. Let me explain - I'm all for stopping spyware and adware. I think it would be nice to make it a punishable offense, if policy could be enforced and it was actually possible in more than just theory. What I'm saying is that generally online petitions do nothing. They hold no authority, no real say in things. I could forge an online petition and plead a case and say hundreds of thousands or more people agree - because online I can make it look like that. If you want policy change, encourage members to contact their government - representatives, senators, governors - anyone willing to listen. Urge your government representatives to back internet laws regarding 'spam', spyware, adware, etc. Go out and do a real petition with signatures of real people. Send that to the government to show them your support. But don't hold your breath on policy change by online petition. |

Too many people sit around and say "Aw nothing can be done, so why bother". But actually, with enough people forcing those in power, to seriously look at an issue, sometimes change can occur.
Ten years ago, no one thought they could bring the mighty tobacco industry to it's knees, but look around today. Non smoking laws are the status quo. Why? Because enough people took the time to be heard. Gather your signature, post your petitions anywhere you can. But don't stop there, make sure your collections are sent to the right people. You never know what can be done, if you don't try. But look already, at some of your "signatures". Some are not the kind you would send as a serious message to our law makers. Here is where you will have your problems. Good luck. |
