how do I use md5 to decrypt an encrypted password in VB3???
i get the $password and $salt from the database... ..i then want to revert it to the plain text password! how do i do that? |

so if i want to compare two passwords i would have to get the $plain_text_pwd and HASH it with the $salt of the HASHED password and check they're the same? correct? |

You would need to use the same process vBulletin uses and use the end resut to compare the hashed password results

the passwords of vb3 are doublehashed.
you have to has the value with your lisencenr as well. Try to do a search to find out how the password generation works exactly. i know from a thread where it's explained in detail ![]() and the general thing: it's not just that way in vb, the md5 hash cannot be used to recreate the original password. It's mathmatically impossible ![]() |
