It's very graphic intensive..
It took long enough to load on my 512k Broadband connection, I dread to think what it would be like on a 56k Dial-Up. It also takes a couple of scrolls to even reach the forums - the header is HUGE!

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice design - but I think you should also provide a "lite" version of your style.

My opinions:

Shrink that giant header. As Oblivion Knight points out, it's way too big. I'm looking at it in 1600x1200 (as I imagine you are to, from the size of it) and I don't even want to try to see what people running 1024x768 - still the #1 most common resolution, even for gamers - are going to see. It'll take up the entire page!

And, on a personal note, there is nothing, but nothing, that makes me say "I will never in a million years register here, or come back for that matter" faster than one of those extremely annoying popup boxs that sticks on the page and bugs you to sign up. I know WiredGamers did it, and it didn't work for them either. With all due respect to the work of it's author, that hack has to be the most annoying one on this forum. It will drive away more people than you get to sign up, and even people who sign up are really doing it just to make it go away, not necessarily because they are going to contribute to your community. Please, re-think that.

It's a nice looking site in many ways, so don't take this as all bad. Take care of the above issues and look into adding perhaps a bit more color here and there and it will look really nice. I can tell you put a lot of work into it, so take the extra step!

It's horrendously huge and graphicky. The header alone takes up my entire screen at 1280x1024. Using images to enhance a site's layout is one thing, but making them the primary feature is another.

Another tip:

I know there are a lot of cool hacks here, and it's tempting to use those that encourage signing up. However, many of them, especially on brand-new sites, will backfire on you.

For example, you allow unregistered members to view thread titles and such, but not the actual threads. They have to register first. Yet your board is very new and there are very few threads on it right now. Why would someone register to read just a couple threads? The right way to go about this is, post something interesting, then they will have to register to reply, like normal. The hack you are using here is really meant for boards that get a lot of traffic and basically say, heck, if you can't even bother to register, I don't want you using more of my bandwidth. That isn't the case with your forum. Re-think this approach.

"Tricks" to try and get people to sign up will leave you with a fake membership - you will have a lot of members, and very few posts (and thus reasons to actually come to your community). Make interesting posts that people want to respond to. Inject some personality into your site, that's how it grows.

K I know this thread is a bit old. But I think I installed a hack where the users can't see the threads, like. It was probably in a existing hack I installed. And I looked in the usergroups and forum options and everything was set right. Is there a place in a php file where this kinda problem would still out?

Too much emphasis on the graphics surrouding the forums and not enough on actually customizing the templates to give your forum a unique look that seperate it from other forums. Actually, the header seperate it from other forums, on 800x600 it take's up the whole screen. I feel bad for you, I think wasted a months time and nothing will come of it but good luck.
