VBadvanced - post install problems
ok. For starters -- I am building my site ----everything is installed in public_html/VB/
Now, I have a few issues. First, I cannot figure out how to get my advanced homepage (my vb forums prior) to show up when my domain name is entered. I have to choose the VB directory from the index (which is what comes up when I enter my domain name). SO I need to know what files to change, how to name them and where to place them. Second thing, I need to have a link on the nav bar installed on both the forum and the homepage directing to each other. I am very new at all this, but learning as I go. Please give me detailed explanation of what to do if you can, |

have a look at this thread for vbadvanced..
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=59803 as far as editing the navbar template, if that sentence makes no sense to you, i seriously suggest you study the admin control panel of vbulletin for a very long time. look at the styles, their menus, the ability to edit templates, the ability to create child styles, parent styles, modify the CSS selectors.. you should also consider downloading vB 2.3.4 and learning it too since there is no manual for vB 3 yet.. also, head over to vBulletin.com and have a read on their forums.. coming here, because this place is mainly dedicated to hacks, assumes you know at least a little of vBulletin.. so download the user guide or whatever it is called for 2.3.4 and give it a good once over.. but spend time in your admin CP so you at least have an idea of what folks may be talking about when they tell you to edit a template or something like that.. as far as vBadvanced, that is the thread link above where you said in another thread that you didn't know about.. i would also recommend installing it in your public_html folder and not in your forums subdirectory.. |

Actually I came here because the faq for vbadvanced said I should post questions here as well as the vbadvanced site.
And I am aware of where things are in the CP -- including templates - but what to change them to and what changes to make is another matter. I can find the navbar template, but I dont know what changes to make. Thanks for making me feel welcome. :ermm: |

you should post questions in the vbadvanced thread.. not in the general modifcation discussions forum.. and i am not aware of making you feel unwelcome.. if you felt that way, then you took what i said in the wrong context..
