How does vb know to retain...
...the post formatting? I was curious about this. To be a bit more clear, when you're posting vb retains the look of your post exactly as you typed it. Now when vb pulls the info from the database, how does it know to retain carriage returns, mutliple spaces, etc?
I hack I'm trying to modify for my needs doesn't do this. It'll simply put all the content from the database on 1 line, word wrapping if necessary. I looked at the database to see how posts were saved and compared the content field for post to the content field for this hack. Both look just like they did when they were typed. So I'm thinking it is the way it is pulled off the database and displayed. I'm no expert, but I'm learning, so a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciate. Should I start looking at the code? templates? |

Look in google for the nl2br() function. If you don't figure it out I'll help you but it's better for you to try on your own.
