Member Problems

Ok, I started my board back in December. Around mid January I started having problems with one particular member not respecting the board. Lashing out at other members, trash talking everyone. Just basically someone with to much time on thier hands with nothing better to do. At first it was no big deal. I gave him a few warnings. Then I banned him. He then reregisters with a different name.

I tried banning the IP address, but he uses multi IP addresses.

I have the board controls setup where all new members get and email confirmation,Admin approval, and cannot use the same email address. This guy has to be going out of his way to get an email address to register on my site. What can I do to get rid of him. I am worried he may turn some of my members away. Please help

I had a troublesome member lately, so i added this hack by Zzed:

I have not had any problems since.

I have seen the member still trying to login and browse the board. He's probably wondering what's wrong with the site or his PC!

Good idea, you could also try and ban hotmail an dsuch, whatever email he is using, just ban all of hotmail and such

Zzed's hack is excellent. Another one I would suggest would be "Trap Banned Memembers - They can't logout" by Logician. It puts a cookie on the users computer and they won't be able to log out or visit your site again until they clear their cookies. Seems to work pretty nicely on most users as they never seem to think to clear their cookies.
Or if he really starts annoying you, I could give you instructions for my "Idiot Ban" hack. It redirects the user to a website that will start opening somewhere between 20-50 little windows that scroll across the screen and starts singing "You are an idiot, hah ha hah ha".

One of the URL's is http://piv.pivpiv.dk/ Don't click that unless you have everything on your computer saved though as you will most likely have to kill Internet Explorer and possibly restart your computer.

Just make it so that you put him in a new usergroup, then use PHP to re-direct users in that usergroup to:

sorry for my stupidity, but I am not real farmiliar with vb hacks/script/code. How will this know what member I am trying to make miserable. Is it very hard to install a these hacks?

The hack is very easy to install to make user's miserable. Simply download the file, unzip it and read through the instructions.

You have an option when you view the member in the admin-cp to make them 'miserable'.
