applying multiple hacks
I just set up VB yesterday, and will soon be importing my UBB data into it.
I've just finished browsing through some of the hacks available here. I feel like a kid in a candy store, and I will definitely be installing some of them in the days to come. Just one question so far. I hope it isn't a stupid one! -- but I looked, and couldn't find an answer. I am more of a perl guy, and am new to php, but with all of these hacks, has an established method of inserting them into program files been established? Such that all hacks can be placed into one file, without actually altering the program files themselves? I'm just thinking of all the headaches that will ensue when I am trying to upgrade to a newer version. The UBB community had something for this purpose, called "MultiHack". I'm sure some sort of unix solution can be found, but I thought that there perhaps might be something more established that everyone is using. I remember seeing something a while ago regarding this, but I was unable to find it again. |

Conceptually it's a very good idea (modular hacking) but in reality it won't work because eventually you will have to edit some part of a specific vB file to perform a given action in a given place in the code.
