vBulletin 3 and integration
I need to integrate vBulletin with my existing membership site. As the vb 3 upgrade appears to be any time now, I will need to ensure anything I do with version 2 works with the new version.
At present I am running UBB Classic, but it is simply running out of capacity, and the user load gets dangerously high at busy period. So I have decided to make the leap to vBulletin. I have the following main integration problems I want to password protect a portion of my site using the user data within the user tables, using Apache htaccess or an equivalent system. Ideally I would like to use the user group concept to give different access dependant on the members group. Is there any provision to allow this in vb 3? I have seen some mention of an API, SDK, or even a Portal, will any of these help me? . Is the user name easily available in the cookie's set by vB 3? I have seen a mention in the announced features of a change in this area. I want to use this to avoid repeated logins with other site features. Any info or suggestions will be very welcome, I intend to move over to vB as soon as possible. :nervous: Thanks for your help Webspinner |
