Modifying what can be viewed on the index page...
Hello. We would like to know if there is a way to set up the forum/index.php page so the different forums/threads available can be viewed by everybody. However, we only want registered members to be able to click on the links and go to view and post. Those who aren't registered would be forwarded to the Register page if they click on a Forum to view.
In other words, we understand how to set up the page so the threads are visible to registered, or non-registered, or waiting for confirm, etc. But we don't want people viewing the actual posts without registering. The catch is. If they come to the index.php/main page... they don't see any Forums or threads, and they don't know that there are many posts behind this initial page. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your help. |

Actually... we want the main Forums to be visible so people will know they're there. But if they were to click on one of them, they would go to the registration to sign up before they are able to view all of the posts. Does that make sense?
Here is the page: http://www.statfox.com/forum/index.php If you're not registered you will only see one of the Forums (Enter the StatFox Super Bowl Challenge!). That is the only Forum we allow access to unregistered viewers. But there are other forums available. We want everybody to see what they COULD be posting on. Thanks for your help! |

I think you can set the forum permissions so that guests can "view" all forums, but then dont' allow them to view threads and such inside the forums. Is that kind of what you're asking?

YES! We're getting closer. I did that and it kind of works. The problem is, when the Forum link is clicked, it goes to a page that says 'There have been no posts in the last 2 days in this forum.' The threads aren't showing up which is good. But there, in fact, posts in the last 2 days.
Can the link forward to the registration page instead? Take a look... http://www.statfox.com/forum/index.php Thank you! |
