I would like to be able to hide some of my forums from unregistered users while still allowing them to view some "teaser" forums in the site.

I couldn't see how to do this in the CP, is there a hack for this? or am I SOL?

You should modify the forum permissions in your AdminCP. Go to Forums & Moderators > Permissions, click on the [Edit] link next to the Unregistered / Not Logged group, on the forums you want to hide from unregistered users.

Now you should deactivate the option 'Can view forum'.
