Installed Hacks - Forum slow?
Hi all
I have had more than 1 complaint about my forum being slow to load and post etc, it seems a lot of people are having this problem. Early last week I installed the following hacks to my forum: ------------------Start Hacks------------------ PM Blink when full Choose destination after post Email admin when someone is trying to login in admin cp Moderator drop down boxes Quick fire reply + smiles Spider Friend Thread Preview (when you move your mouse over the subject of the thread you get a small box open with the first part of the thread) Welcome Panel Mouse over changes colour on forums Also 'New Thread' link on index.php ------------------End Hacks------------------ Would any of these really slow down my forum? Most of them where template mods etc so I can't really see the damage! Anyone ever had these problems? Thanks Stuart |

I would say no, these hacks wont slow your board (I dont know Spired friend though. This does NOT mean it slows the board, just means I don't know its algorithm).
Just install another hack: Microstats by Teck. And you'll able to monitor if there is a load in your server and if yes when. Pinpointing the problem will help your cure it. But I still think your problem is not related to these hacks unless you applied them wrong in someway.. |

As Logician said, you should install TECKs Microstats hack.
If you have more than 30 Queries on some sites you've mostly done something wrong with applying the hacks, and so they slow down the page, but in general these hacks wont' |

Hi guys
Thanks for the tip, I just installed the Microstats and get this report: Page generated in 1.10596895 seconds (16.06% PHP - 83.94% MySQL) with 23 queries. [Debug Mode OFF] [PHP v4.2.2] [GZIP disabled] Page generated in 2.44397199 seconds (8.14% PHP - 91.86% MySQL) with 23 queries. [Debug Mode OFF] [PHP v4.2.2] [GZIP disabled] Does that mean anything to you lot? Ta Stuart |

23 is a normal value, but the timespan is really high...
it seems you've a slow MySQL server... You cannot change anything yourselft, you should contact the host |

Seems they have a crammed MYSQL server but do not expect to get a better one, if you are not lucky or pay much for hosting. My own site's averages are close to your site's and I dont bother changing my host since I dont expect to get a better one unless I go with "dedicated". If these numbers gets higher and usually stays so, think about changing the host though.. |

To make sure if it's your hacks (although not much likely), you can remove them for a while and use the clean board to see if the performance will increase or not? |

Hi all
OK just a quick note I don't know if it makes a difference but I was giving you those stats off my index.php page. When I post, reply, new thread, new post the time is generally about .40 to .60 seconds. Isnt that more like it? Its just the index that takes longer to load! Is that any better? Thanks Stuart |
