Best portal?
I have looked at several portal type hacks for my VB but I havent installed any yet. I was wondering if you could recommend you personal favorite and also recommend one that could be used so that there are two side columns and one or two middle ones.
Thanks for your help :classic: |

vBindex by default has that layout but can be changed to suit your needs.

Again, like I posted in your other thread. There are many, many implmentations of it that haven't caused people to screw up over 1 week of work.
I think you must have screwed something up and it's easier to blame the software than the user. YOU.. Josh |

Ok.. That was harsh and I apologize. but.. I never did understand why someone would blame the software.
If you lost all your vBulletin info would you blame jelsoft if your server crashed? Just my 2 cents. Josh |

The instructions said to overwrite the existing default style with theirs, which is incredibally dumb, of course that is supposed to be for a fresh instrall of vb, so people whop already have a good style either have to scrap it as default, overwrite it, or take the long route, if they had it so templates were installed with an installer, it'd save everyone a lot of headaches

You are absolutely correct. If you would like to contribute to the project, please head over, there is no one that is ever turned down who wants to contribute. I'm sure Wajones would have no objections to you writing the routine for this.
On a second note. The easiest thing to do before you install ANY hack is to make a complete backup of your board and database. Then, if anything goes wrong, all you have to do is a restore and your back again. You should also make any changes to a test board before putting them into production. Josh |

I would vote for Vportal cause it seem Vportal has a lot of "memebers" work on it and with more updates. I'm not saying that the vbindex is bad or unreiable but the problem is that the vbindex is not updates many as Vportal ( not the many updates is better ) and there are not so many people (team) working on it.
But more cause Vbindex is really cool cause it is free rather than Vportal fee lol/ |

vbportal is fine... just backup everything first (like they say) LD
